Be My Guest: Jo From Wear The Old Coat

Welcome to my new feature! It even has its own theme tune.

Yep. Totally original. Anyhoo, I wanted to create a feature that focused on how awesome the book blogging community is (as opposed to all the drama of last year), and what better way than to have a new blogger be my guest each week. I'm very happy to have Jo from Wear the Old Coat as my first ever guest. I've been following her blog for so long I can't say exactly how I discovered it, but I love it for Jo's wicked sense of humour and wonderfully written reviews. Some books she's single-handedly added to my wishlist include This is Shyness by Leanne Hall, Adorkable by Sara Manning, A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley and Brown Skin Blue by Belinda Jeffrey. Plus her reviews of books like Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey, Liesl and Po by Lauren Oliver, and The Lumatere Chronicles and On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta made me want to read the books even more than I already did. She also has awesome features like Under the Covers, about the stories behind the books on her shelf (as well as some guests' books - including mine!), and On Writing, which features amazing interviews with authors, filled with insightful advice about writing. But enough of me waffling. It's time to grill Jo...

First up, the important stuff - what are we eating and drinking at this party?
OK, I should probably say something really delicious and fancy like… um… something delicious and fancy. But, and this may surprise you so brace yourselves, I don’t actually get invited to that many fancy parties. I actually have a really sweet tooth, so I’m going to bring some Jazzies (I understand you Aussies call them Freckles?) because they’re my favourite sweets in the entire world. And to drink? Pink bubbly because when I’m a Rich and Famous author, that’s all I’ll drink. You can imagine what my books will be like…

What part of the world do you hail from, and what's something not many people would know about that place?
I’m from a little town about 40 minutes away from Manchester. The song "It’s a Long Way to Tipperary" was written in my hometown by Jack Judge.

Tell us one random fact about yourself.
My great granddad had tickets for the Titanic but swapped them at the last minute for tickets on another ship with his friends.
I’m not entirely sure that’s 100% true but it’s one of my favourite things to ask my grandma about, BUT if you want one that definitely is true: I was taught by someone who taught Danny Boyle.

What kind of books do you read, and what is your ultimate favourite?
I’ve always said if I could get away with reading only contemporary YA books, I would. But I fear I would quickly run out because there is a distinct lack of contemporary books getting published at the moment. I find that they often get overlooked for the more in-your-face books that are perhaps easier to sell, but when you find a good one, one that grabs you by the cardigan and refuses to let go, it’s so worth the wait.
My ultimate favourite? God, that’s such a difficult question. There are different books/series that mean a lot to me because I read them at different stages in my reading life. Harry Potter were the first books that made me excited to read. The Hunger Games were the books that showed me how important it is to read what you want and not what you think you should. But my favourite books, absolute favourite, are His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. Those books changed the way I thought stories could and should be told.

What do you do when you're not reading/blogging?
When I’m not reading or blogging I’m actually writing or working. The former a lot more glamorous than the latter… except not really because I write the best when I’m wearing PJs. Seriously though, I’m always writing and coming up with stories. I started reading YA because I wanted to read books that were aimed at the group of readers that I want to write for… and I guess I started blogging because I wanted to have a place where I could talk about the books I loved and loathed with other like-minded people.
I also love music and there’s nothing better than discovering a new band and song to play on repeat. Oh and I adore watching films, something that has kind of taken a bit of a backseat with all my reading/writing malarkey but I will always be a film geek. In fact, I probably have more DVDs than books….

Describe your blog in three words.
Extremely high brow.
Nah, I’m kidding.
Rambly, fun, different.

What is your favourite thing about your blog/blogging?
I know this is probably the part where I should say that my favourite part of blogging is meeting other like-minded people who love the books I love and encourage my passion for them. And please don’t get me wrong, that is my favourite thing.
But you’ve probably heard the same things from other bloggers so my second favourite thing about blogging is gaining the confidence to voice my opinion on the things I’m passionate about. I wouldn’t say I was necessarily a shy person, but I’m quite a conscious person, if that makes any sense. I’m very conscious that if I keep rabbiting on about Marchetta or Pullman or Collins or Rowling then people will roll their eyes and move away. But with my blog, I have this little part of the internet where I can ramble on as much as I want to about the things I love the most and people who feel the same way (or differently! I’m always up for a discussion!) can stumble upon it and start a discussion.
Unless they’re the ones who find my blog through searches for “Where can I buy an old coat?”… they probably don’t care about Peeta and his burnt bread.

What post or review are you most proud of, and why?
My favourite post(s) I’m proud of is probably my On Writing feature. I started the feature for a completely selfish reason: I’m an aspiring YA writer and I wanted to know all the writing secrets. But as I posted more interviews and posts, it seemed to have turned into something else entirely. And it’s so brilliant to see other aspiring writers, my friends and strangers, all at different stages of their writing journeys reading the interviews and posts and finding them useful. It makes me think that the hard behind-the-scenes work (persuading the authors they want to be interviewed by me, the questions, etc etc) is more than worth it.

What are your top three favourite book blogs, and why?
Oh good grief, this is a horrible question. Just three? Can I not just direct to the side bar of my blog? That is my ultimate list of book blogs that I love. But seeing as I’m wimping out of narrowing it down to just three, I’ll give you my top three things that will make me love a blog. 1) I love bloggers that don’t take themselves too seriously. Blogging is supposed to be FUN. 2) Bloggers who have an opinion. No reader can love every single book they read, if you don’t like it, I want to know why! You never know, the reason you might dislike it might be the reason I love it! 3) Bloggers who write fascinating and unique posts and not ones that are loosely based on something that was marginally controversial because you want to get more hits.

Can you think of a time another blogger's review made you actually buy/borrow/read a book?
Oh, I rely on bloggers to recommend at least 75% of the books I read. Recently though, two reviews (well, one is technically a post) that come to mind are Rey from Wordchasing’s  Five Reasons to Read The Montmaray Journals and Heidi from Bunbury in the Stacks’ review of Fire Spell by Laura Amy Schlitz.

What was the last book that made you...
-Laugh. The book I’m currently reading, Crow Boy, made me laugh but I don’t think it was intentional. It’s about a boy from Manchester (waaaayyy) who goes to Edinburgh and he’s getting bullied because he hasn’t got a coat and one of the bullies is like, “Oh he’s Liam Gallagher, he’s too cool for a coat”. Which is obviously a lie because it’s common knowledge that Liam Gallagher is rather partial to a Parka. OK, maybe that’s just me finding that funny.
-Cry. I was an absolute wreck after Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta.
-Throw it across the room in fury. And Then Things Fall Apart by Arlaina Tibensky. Urgh, I could barely get past the first chapter because it touched a raw nerve about something that I admit I’m sensitive about. But yeah, it just made me angry.
-Push it onto others. Recently, I’ve got two people, Maree and Anna, to read Keren David’s When I Was Joe series.
-Stay up til 2am reading. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – gosh that book is good.

Would you rather read only five books for the rest of the life, but they're really amazing - or read hundreds/thousands that are all mediocre?
Five books, definitely. I’m a strong advocate of giving up on books if you don’t like them because… well, why would you want to read a crap book when there are so many other books to discover? I’m also a strong advocate of re-reading your favourite books… so yes. Definitely only five books.
You’re not going to ask me which five, are you?!

OK, time to play Snog, Marry, Avoid, The Marchetta Edition. Who would you snog/marry/avoid out of...
You are a cruel, cruel, horrible woman, Ms Belle

-Finnikin, Froi and Lucian
(Small spoilers for Froi of the Exiles & Quintana of Charyn!)
OK, I’d avoid the ginger cat (sorry Finn!), I’d…. snog Lucian and I’d marry Froi. Although, actually, maybe I should snog Froi and marry Lucian. I think I would fare better in a fight with Phaedra than Q… and I’m quite fond of my hair on my scalp. I adore Froi and would marry him in a heartbeat but I don’t want to be responsible for splitting him and Q up.
Sorry Phaedra, Fleece Boy is mine.

-Tom Mackee, Jonah Griggs and Jacob Coote
HA… OK. Sorry Jacob, I’m giving you and your leather jacket a wide berth. Jonah will get snogged silly in the tree house and Mackee’s going to propose at the Sydney International Airport.
Thank you Jo for being my very first guest!

Pash, Pick or Pass: Marchetta's Men

That's right, Pash, Pick or Pass is back! And it's a doozy...

The contenders

-Jonah Griggs from On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta, a fiercesome army cadet with a damaged past and a tender heart (le sigh). Played in my head by Liam Hemsworth.

-Tom Mackee from Saving Francesca and The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta. He's a blokey boy who can proudly burp the alphabet, but he also has a sensitive side (hello, muso). Played in my head by Benedict Samuel.

-Jacob Coote from Looking For Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta. Another rough-around-the-edges-but-deep-down-really-sweet guy (they seem to be a MM speciality!), he's a walking contradiction. A totally swoon-worthy one. Played by Kick Gurry in the movie.

My choices

Pash: Jonah. I love his passion. And his hotness. But he's one of those characters that is so obviously meant for another (Taylor) I just couldn't interfere. Much.

Pick: Tom. Maybe it was being in his head for half of The Piper's Son, but I feel more connected to him than the others. Once he gets his shit together I reckon he'd make a pretty decent pick.

Pass: Sorry, Jacob, you were my first MM love, and I'll always have a special place in my heart for you but... you've been eclipsed.

Come on MM fans, you know you want to play! Who would you pash, pick and pass?

Pash, Pick or Pass: The Fuentes Brothers

Pash, Pick or Pass is back! I haven't had much time for blogging so far this year, but I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things from here on out. What better way to celebrate the return of Pash, Pick or Pass than with the Fuentes brothers?!

A refresher: Pash, Pick or Pass is a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
From Simone Elkeles' Perfect Chemistry trilogy (as played in my imagination)...

Alex "I'm in a gang to protect my family" Fuentes

Carlos "I'm in a gang coz I'm hard core" Fuentes

Luis "I'm in a gang due to illogical plotting" Fuentes

My Choices

Pash: Carlos. He's a bit too douchey for my tastes, but he's hot, so I wouldn't mind a bit of alone time with him.

Pick: Alex, all the way. He's just so adorable and sweet and awesome and smart and... yeah, I adore him.

Pass: Luis. He's kinda cute but I first met him when he was 11, so I'd definitely have to pass or things would get real awkward.

Who would you pash/pick/pass out of these bad boys?

Pash, Pick or Pass: TwiGuys

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass - a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
It's perhaps the most famous love triangle of all (or at least of the past ten years)... yep, I'm talking Twilight. I've been sitting on this one for awhile in anticipation of the release of Breaking Dawn. Which I thought I'd be way more excited about by now. I have to say I'm feeling very "meh" about it... something that was really highlighted when I just about exploaded with excitement upon viewing The Hunger Games trailer. I was like, "Oh, THERE you are, Excitement". Anyway, now I'm rambling. Let's play with Edward et al, shall we?

Edward "Prick Tease" Cullen
Notable Quote: "Look after my heart... I've left it with you."

Jacob "Don't Make Me Angry" Black
Notable Quote: "Does my being half-naked bother you?"

Mike "I'm Human" Newton
Notable Quote: "If I were lucky enough to sit by you, I would have talked to you."

My Choices

Pash: Jacob. Mainly so I can feel his abs. I also think he's pretty sweet and cute when he's not being all growly or falling in love with infants.

Pick: Edward, of course. There's just something about him that's irresistible, even though certain aspects of his character drive me nuts (stalker, much?).

Pass: Mike. Poor guy, he didn't stand a chance next to the other two. Bo-ring.

Who would you pash, pick and pass out of Bella's suitors?

Pash, Pick or Pass: V.C. Andrews, a.k.a. The Best of the Worst

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass - a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
This week, for a bit of craziness fun, I'm going back to my tween reading years and revisiting some of V.C. Andrews' heroes (I use the term loosely). For pictures, I'm using the actors I imagined when I first read the books (yep, I've always done the "casting" thing, and yep, I remember who I pictured, probably because it kinda tainted the actors for a long time for me).

Christopher "I accidentally forced myself on you" Dollanganger from the Dollanganger series
Notable Quote: "As the man, and the head of this family, let it be known hitherto that I am to be waited on hand and foot - the same as a king. Wife, as my inferior, and my slave, set the table, dish out the food, make ready for your lord and master." - Flowers in the Attic

Jimmy "Thank god you're not my sister coz now we can bone" Longchamp from the Cutler series
Notable Quote: "I used to wish you weren't my sister... I thought you were so pretty, I wished you could be my girlfriend. You were always after me to choose this friend of yours or that to be my girlfriend, but I didn't want anybody else but you." - Dawn

Arden "If you loved me you'd bang me" Lowe from My Sweet Audrina
Notable Quote: OK, so sadly I don't own My Sweet Audrina and couldn't find any quotes on the interwebz, so this paraphrasing comes courtesy of Forever Young Adult, but it pretty much sums up Arden... “Well, I didn’t do it before now because you seem not to enjoy it when I ram my half-flaccid dick into your dry vagina.”

My Choices
After writing out our boys' profiles and actually thinking this through, I gotta say I'm kicking myself for making these three the options this week. Why did I do this?! It seemed like a good (read: hilarious) idea at the time. But actually contemplating any of these three as anything but pass-worthy? Blerck. OK, I'll do my best. Please don't judge me. I don't actually want to pash or pick any of them, and never would unless perhaps my life depended on it. Which they might enjoy, coz they all have kinda rapey tendencies.

Pash: Oh god oh god oh god... um... Christopher. I guess. Because he's pretty. And has a sorta justifiable reason for being so messed up, what with the emotional and physical abuse and all. Not that it excuses any of his nasty/weird/creepy actions. But comparatively speaking (I'm looking at you, Arden Lowe), he's alright.

Pick: Oh god oh dear oh this is so gross... er... Jimmy. He's sort of sweet, if you ignore the fact that he lusted after his sister, who might have turned out to not be his sister, but who he STILL THOUGHT WAS HIS SISTER. But I wouldn't be his sister, so maybe it'd be OK. Although it also means he probably wouldn't be interested in me. Whatevs.

Pass: ARDEN LOWE. Phew, that was an easy one. He may not have had incestuous feelings like the other two, but he is just such a douche. Some douchey highlights include the time he watched Audrina being gang-raped and DID NOTHING ABOUT IT; the time he judged Audrina for just wanting to kiss him; the time he made Audrina feel guilty for not wanting to have sex with him even though he knew she'd been GANG-RAPED; the time he threatened he'd leave Audrina if she didn't have sex with him, even though he still knew she'd been GANG-RAPED; the time he had an affair with Audrina's cousin/half-sister and blamed Audrina for his douchiness because she wouldn't have sex with him, even though she'd been GANG-RAPED; the time he may or may not have tried to kill Audrina... What a catch.

So, who would you pash, pick and pass? It's hard, I know, coz they're all SO desirable.

I promise next week the options will be much more swoon-worthy.

Pash, Pick or Pass: The Men of Little Women

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass - a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
From Louisa May Alcott's Little Women...

Jo's husband, Professor Bhaer
Amy's husband, Laurie
Meg's husband, John Brooke
My Choices

Pash: Prof Bhaer. I always got the impression he was quite passionate underneath that reserved exterior.

Pick: Laurie. Because it's LAURIE! Jo made the dumbest choice ever when she said no to him. And then poor Laurie got stuck with Amy. I'd make him feel better.

Pass: John Brooke. Mainly because the cast of the movie are ingrained in my head, and Eric Stoltz gives me the heebie jeebies.

Who would you pash, pick and pass from Little Women? What kinda guy do you think Beth would have married if she'd lived (sob!)?

Pash, Pick or Pass: Halloween Edition

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass - a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
In honour of Halloween, we're playing with some of the most famous literary monsters ever. And my, what a pretty bunch they are.

Count Dracula from Bram Stoker's Dracula
Frankenstein's Monster from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Dr Jekyll/My Hyde from Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
I know, I KNOW, this is, like, the hardest choice ever, right? Ahem.

My Choices

Pash: Dracula. He was the first sexy vampire, really, and without him it's likely there'd be no Edward Cullen, Eric Northman or Damon Salvatore (scary thought). That's definitely worth a pash - as long as he didn't get too close to my neck.

Pick: Dr Jekyll. OK, so Mr Hyde is super creepy, ugly and evil, but he's only around some of the time, and the rest of the time you get a brilliant doctor. So it's kind of like the male version of PMS. I can deal with that.

Pass: Frankenstein's Monster. I feel bad, because I do have a soft spot in my heart for him and think he's greatly misunderstood. But I just can't get past the whole body-made-out-of-rotting-corpses bit.

C'mon now, who would you pash, pick or pass out of this terrifying trio? I know you totally want to pash all three, but you'll just have to choose.

Pash, Pick or Pass: The Gatsby Edition

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass - a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
When I heard the news yesterday that Baz Luhrmann's upcoming adaptation of The Great Gatsby would be released at Christmas, I got excited. Until I realised it was Christmas 2012. I can't wait that long! Of course, I'll have to... So to ease the pain of waiting, I decided to play Pash, Pick or Pass with the Gatsby boys this week. Although I'm excited for the movie, the cast aren't exactly who I pictured when I read it, so these are my ideas of the boys...

Nick Carraway

Jay Gatsby

Tom Buchanan
My Choices

Pash: Gatsby, of course. Handsome, rich, fun... but way too messed up for anything permanent.

Pick: Nick. Yeah, he's kinda boring, but he's also kind, smart and stable - the natural choice out of the three for a lifelong commitment. I can always have Gatsby on the side, right? Not that I agree with that kind of thing. But this is Fitzgerald's world, not the real world, so what the hey.

Pass: Tom. He's one hell of a man, really. Emphasis on hell. He's such a brute. He and Daisy deserve each other.

Who would you pash/pick/pass?

Pash, Pick or Pass: The Vampire Diaries

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass - a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
This week I finally caught up on the end of The Vampire Diaries season two (which I missed while we were in America), so I'm currently obsessing over those boys. More so than usual, anyway. Therefore, this week's contenders are...

Damon Salvatore
Stefan Salvatore
Matt Donovan (show) a.k.a. Matt Honeycutt (books)

OK, so TVD is a TV show, but it's based on a book series, so I say it still counts. Though since I've only read one book from the series (plus Volume One of Stefan's Diaries), I'm mostly basing my views of the characters on the show. But hey, it's my game and I'll do what I want, mwahaha.

My Choices

Pick: If I was thinking with my head, I'd say Stefan. He's sweet, smart, selfless, and sensationally good looking. But when it comes to The Vampire Diaries, I can't help but think with my... er, heart. Which leads me to pick Damon. The misunderstood, kinda evil, super sexy Damon. He desperately needs some lovin'. My lovin'. Screw Elena!

Pash: I went into this thinking I was going to pash Stefan... but dayum did you see that picture of Matt?! Oh haaaaaaaayyy. I choose Matt.

Pass: That leaves me to pass on Stefan. Sob! Poor guy, I do love him. But he's got nothing on Damon. It's OK, he's got Elena, coz she still insists on denying her true feelings for Damon. So she can have Stefan. I'll take the rest.

Who out of this tasty trio would you pash, pick and pass?

Pash, Pick or Pass: A Mr Darcy Threesome

Here's a peek into my random thought processes (there's a point, I promise): This week I read Austenland (review to come soon), which made me think of Lost in Austen, which made me think of the different Darcy portrayals over the years, which made me want to do something slightly different for Pash, Pick or Pass this week and make it all about Darcy! Yep, rather than characters battling it out for our affections, I've decided to pit Darcy against Darcy.

The Contenders
Um, Mr Darcy, Mr Darcy and Mr Darcy... Oh, you want more information? Some visual aides? OK, OK, if I must...

Mr Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice mini-series

Mr Darcy, as played by Matthew MacFadyenin the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie

Mr Darcy, as played by Elliot Cowan in the 2008 mini-series Lost in Austen

My Choices

Pash: Elliot's Mr Darcy. Did you see that picture?! Dare I say it, he pulls off a wet shirt better than Colin Firth. He also has a very sexy voice, and I wouldn't mind him whispering sweet nothings in my ear while we pashed.

Pick: Firth. Do I even need to explain this choice? He's Colin Firth. He IS Mr Darcy. Handsome, passionate, loving, intelligent, selfless, kind... *sigh*

Pass: MacFadyen. To be fair, I thought he was the least offensive thing about the movie (I HATED it) and made an OK Darcy, and even an OK Darcy is better than an awesome version of just about anybody else. Plus that mist scene is pretty swoony (if totally out of character and illogical, but I'm not here to rant). Still, between the three Darcys he's definitely the one I'd pass on.

Which Darcy would you pash/pick/pass?

Pash, Pick or Pass: The Guys Of The Mortal Instruments

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass - a game where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
Having finally read the first three books in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare in the past week, I thought it was about time I featured the boys from the books. Note: I'm using the actors I pictured while reading, not who has been cast in the movie.

The badass smartass with a heart, Jace
The BFF-worthy nerd, Simon
The protective brooder, Alec
My Choices

Pash:
Alec. OK, he's gay. But he's hot. And... that's all I've got.

Pick: Jace. I like his wit, strength and the fact that he's not afraid to show his sensitive side. He's a bit romantic, which is a bit noice.

Pass: Sorry, Simon, but you're way too whiney for me. Grow a pair, and then we'll talk.

Who would you pash, pick and pass out of this tasty trio?

Pash, Pick or Pass: Sookie Stackhouse's Boy Besties

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass (a.k.a. Date, Do or Ditch) - a weekly game I feature where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
Sookie Stackhouse's non-vamp friends...

Her brother, Jason
Her crush buddy, Alcide

Her boss, Sam
My Choices

Pash: Jason. The boy is fine, and with all his experience in the sack I'm sure he'd know a thing or two about pashing. But he's dumber than a bag of hammers and a box of rocks put together, so I couldn't deal with him for longer than that.

Pick: Alcide. Now that's a man. That scene with him cooking steak (for breakfast, of course) in season three of True Blood? MAN. Hot, hot MAN. The kind I'd want to keep around the house. I'm being selective, of course, and picking Alcide from the show/early books - coz he's a bit of a douche by the end. But for now he's all mine.

Pass: Sam. He just does not do it for me at all. In the books or the show. Pass!

Who would you pash, pick and pass?

PS Who do you want to play with next time?

Pash, Pick or Pass: Wuthering Heights

Time to play Pash, Pick or Pass (a.k.a. Date, Do or Ditch) - a weekly game I feature where we pick from a random book trio and say who we'd pash (and dash), who we'd pick for a relationship and who we'd pass on all together.

The Contenders
From Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights...

The (anti)hero Heathcliff (played by Tom Hardy in 2009)
The nice guy Edgar Linton (played by Andrew Lincoln in 2009)
The diamond in the rough, Hareton Earnshaw (played by Jason Riddington in 1992)
My Choices

Pash: Hareton. I always feel so bad for the poor guy - he means well and he's treated so horribly by everyone. He just needs a little lovin'! And I'm more than happy to oblige.

Pick: Edgar. This is a bit of a no-brainer - he's handsome, sweet, rich, smart... what more could you want? Unless you're Cathy, who apparently just wants an abusive creep.

Pass: Speaking of abusive creeps - yep, I'd pass on Heathcliff! Even played by the wonderful Tom Hardy, Heathcliff freaks me out (though in Hardy's defense it may just be the fugly wig in that instance). Seriously, though, he's such a horrid character. But then, so is Cathy; they totally deserve each other.

Who would you pash, pick or pass?

Next time: Sookie Stackhouse's non-vamp boys - Jason Stackhouse, Sam Merlotte and Alcide Herveaux.
