Bookish Buys: Emma By Jane Austen

In honour of the start of Emma Approved (which looks awesome, yay!) I thought I'd search out some other Emma-inspired items. I may also do an actual Emma Approved Bookish Buys post down the track, when there is more merchandise available. For now, it's all old-school Emma, which is fine because look...

Friday Link Dump: Thor, Audiobooks and The OC

-This blog features recipes inspired by Game of Thrones. Totally want my own feast now. Plus Flavorwire discusses the sexism and violence in Game of Thrones - and why it's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm inclined to agree.

-I am so freaking excited for Thor: The Dark World. The trailer looks amazeballs. And so does Chris Hemsworth pretty hair.

-This video features some awesome quotes about how to get over writer's block. How timely for me.

-A clever The Lizzie Bennet Diaries fan created a LBD-themed Monopoly that you can download for free.

-BuzzFeed compiled a list of audiobooks read by celebs. I need to get me some of these.

-I actually didn't know a lot of these Harry Potter movie facts. Fun!

-Disney characters know how to throw shade. Totally going to use some of these next time I get into an argument.

-Meanwhile, this talented GIF creator puts moving Disney characters against real backdrops with magical results.

-Max Irons photo gallery. Need I say more?

-Apparently Downton Abbey season four will feature some new love interests for Lady Mary. And I want to watch it less and less.

-This list of the best TV friendships is brilliant. Troy and Abed, Lorelai and Rory AND Seth and Ryan? Yes, please. Plus Junkee lists their top five The O.C. episodes and I can't believe it's been 10 years since it started.

-Here's some GIFs of kids being awesome.

-This Tumblr features adorable and funny illustrations. Love.

Bookish Buys: Pretty Prints by Mei Lee

Bookish Buys are back! I haven't done one of these posts in awhile because, well, I don't know if you've noticed but I haven't been blogging much. Life and stuff, you know. But I'm getting into the swing of things once again which is very exciting (for me, at least), and I have some gorgeous products to share from Mei Lee a.k.a. Rocketrictic a.k.a. This Journal is Really Heartfelt. She does some really beautiful watercolour designs featuring quotes from the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Green, Neil Gaiman and The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Here are some of my faves...

Friday Link Dump: Game of Thrones, Lizzie Bennet and Liz Lemon

-I can't freaking wait for Game of Thrones season 3, and these pics only made me more excited.

-It's been a massive week in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The Lydia drama has finally come to a head and the fandom is an emotional wreck. On the positive side, there's this behind-the-scenes look at the show and fantastic interviews with the creators, as well as Ashley Clements' new Tumblr about how she picks each Lizzie outfit.

-Here's how the world celebrated Pride and Prejudice's 200th anniversary earlier this week. I think Cadbury did it best.

-Chloe Moretz is going to star in the adaptation of If I Stay and I'm excited. I can't wait to see who is cast as Adam...

-Apparently, Mean Girls can be mashed up with anything - including Les Miserables. Amazing.

-Have you watched Disney's Paperman short yet? If not, you totally should. It's beautiful.

-This is a handy guide to what glasses to use with certain beverages, but who has room for that many kinds of glasses?! Not me, anyway.

-30 Rock has come to an end (sob!) and the internet has been commemorating. Some of my fave posts include 11 life lessons you can learn from Liz Lemon plus the most important lessons from the show itself. And, of course, this collection of Liz Lemon reaction gifs.

-The best moments from the Ellen show will make you smile.

-These tea bag cookies are adorable! I'm obsessed.

-Beyonce and her amazing dance moves are absolutely mesmerising in this gif collection.

-This list of the dumbest things ever said on the internet could make you feel better about your day. Or it could make you want to leave the planet.

On this blog
-I reviewed Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley, plus Glitter Kiss by Adrianne Ambrose and Ghosting by Keith Gray.

Friday Link Dump: Pemberley, Gingers and Melina Marchetta

Source

The brilliant Jo at Wear the Old Coat has done a brilliant Q&A about brilliant heroines with the brilliant Melina Marchetta. Can you tell it's brilliant?

Have you been watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries? If not, now is the time to catch up. Because Lizzie is going to Pemberley! Check out the cool Pemberley Digital website here. Can I work there? Sounds amazing.

Uproxx has dubbed 2012 the Year of the Gorgeous Ginger, and I'm not complaining.

Here's an interesting fact: former Seventeen editor Midge Turk Richardson, who worked on the magazine for 18 years, was actually a nun for the same length of time before that. She died last week aged 82. I'd love to get my hands on her memoirs, but it's so rare it's fetching $247 on Amazon. Yikes!

There are a lot of movies and TV shows to be excited about in 2013. Except the Oldboy remake. Nobody should be excited about that.

New Year's Eve is officially The Worst. But I for one am looking forward to bidding good riddance to 2012, so that's something.

Friday Link Dump: BSC Fashion, Homo Sapiens and Old-Timey Hotness

I am not obsessed with The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. OK, I totally am.
What would Claudia Kishi wear today? I think the clothes on this list - along with the other updates to childhood style icons - are pretty spot on. I kinda want to buy all the things.

Love, love, love this site featuring the stories of the books people have been given by the people they love.

There's a new Les Mis trailer out, this time with people who aren't Anne Hathaway doing some singing. I haven't seen the musical or read the book, so I have nothing to compare it to, and frankly, I'm excited.

I started this Cracked clip sending up Hollywood's version of high schoolers for the The Lizzie Bennet Diaries stars, but I stayed for the lolz. Speaking of Darcy and Fitz, this happened this week. Then this. The awesomeness of which only makes sense if you've been watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. If you haven't, you don't deserve the awesomeness. (Just kidding. But seriously, you should watch it.)

I love a good pun. But a bad one is often even better.

Buzzfeed has a look at the "now and then" of popular magazines, compiling their first issues alongside their most recent, and it's awesome. Some have changed so much - and others, barely at all (granted they're younger mags). And who knew Better Homes and Gardens started life as Fruit Garden and Home?!

Yep, everything is better in mini.

Are you OCD-inclined? This blog will probably make you happy.

Pedestrian has a pretty great list of their favourite music moments in movies. Some of my faves that they didn't mention include those in Pretty in Pink, Beetlejuice, Wayne's World, Reservoir Dogs and Say Anything.

These cakes filled with hidden surprises are the best things I've ever seen.

Thing I learnt this week: Our bodies have more bacterial cells than human cells in them. Ten times more. Also: humans started wearing clothes around 70, 000 years ago. Also: Oh, just read the article on the history (and future) of Homo Sapiens; it's absolutely fascinating.

What could be better than hot guys? Old-timey hot guys.

What could be better than old-timey hot guys?* Hot guys with puppies.

Still on the subject of old-timey things, they used to give hilarious (in hindsight) advice back in the day.

Jimmy Kimmel got his viewers to torture their kids on YouTube again by filming their reactions to being told all their Halloween candy had been eaten, and of course it's hilarious. Until the end, when I may have cried just a little bit at the awesome kids who don't mind sharing, especially the little dude who's like: "I don't care that you ate all my candy, mommy, I just want you to feel happy." Awwww.

If that didn't make your heart burst with squee, this cat that adopted baby hedgehogs will.

*Well, at least as awesome, if not better.

YouTube Clip of The Week
So much logic! It's amazing.
