Now, I like cheesy, cutesy stuff as much as the next adult-in-denial, but even I couldn't get past episode one. Seriously, I started watching episode two and thought WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE. The acting is on the over side, the special effects on the under side and the whole thing is just craptastic... minus the tastic. Like, Luna is a stuffed toy/really bad CGI animation. And the transformations involve really, really bad wigs. And Tuxedo Mask is kinda creepy. Maybe it gets better, but... eh, I just can't do it. P.S. If you want to, the whole thing is on YouTube.

The Book Was Better: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon
I was obsessed with the Sailor Moon anime when I was a kid, and totally want to rewatch it after reading the manga. I currently have the whole series downloading, er, on order, and while I eagerly await its arrival, I thought I'd check out the live-action series, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.

Haha, I never knew there was a live action version! On Australia Day I went to a gallery and saw one of the Sailor Moon movies that was playing. It was hilarious and I'm desperate to re-watch the anime now, so I also have it on...order.
ReplyDeleteI only found out recently. It clearly wasn't as popular!
DeleteLive-action of any manga/anime is usually, most always very, very bad.
ReplyDeleteSailor Moon was my show when I was kid. I still have two of the movies on VHS (ancient but nostalgic) that I watch every now and then. Admittedly, Serena/Usagi annoys the crap out of me. Jupiter and Venus was always my favorites. (Though honestly, I only liked Venus because her English name was the same as name, albeit spelled differently.)
Venus was always one of my favourites - I thought she had the coolest outfit and prettiest hair!
DeleteThat's because she totally did. From what I remember, wasn't she like a tv star in the manga/anime? She starred in show called Sailor V or something like that. I'd google it but I'm lazy, haha. :P
Delete^Yep, I remember the first time Serena/Usagi meets her she fangirls out about meeting one of her idols.
DeleteMy favourite was always Sailor Jupiter. For some reason I always disliked Venus and Moon, I think it was because they had such ordinary coloured hair (so does Jupiter for that matter).
I also loved Sailor Neptune when she was added. Such pretty green/aqua hair.
Yeah, there's a Sailor V video game Usagi always plays!
DeleteI think I didn't like Jupiter as much because she had a pony tail, which I though was so boring. Isn't that awful?! lol
Yeah, the movie really hurt. *grin* (By the way: Regarding the TV Addict Challenge, do Manga count, too?)
ReplyDeleteHells yeah! I'm counting Sailor Moon :D I'll pop the Feb linky up soon
DeleteI luv sailormoon! I got a shirt @ hottopic!
