Top 10 Series I Want To Start

 1. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. I'm obsessed with the Game of Thrones TV show and I hear the books are great. The only reason I haven't started is that they're soooo long and I don't have any time.

2. Wolfe Brothers by Markus Zusak. I worship Zusak based purely on The Book Thief, but I'd like to read his earlier works.

3. Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I find the concept of an enforced "cure" for love fascinating, and I loved Oliver's Liesl and Po. I have the books, I just have to get around to reading them.

4. Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. I've been slowly collecting this classic detective series but again haven't gotten around to reading any yet. I think it's a must though.

5. Confessions of Georgia Nicholson by Louise Rennison. I  have a ridiculous amount of love for the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging movie and the books sound really fun.

6. Chrestomanci by Diana Wynne Jones. I've been told by so many people to read this series!

7. Emily of New Moon by L. M. Montgomery. As much as I love Anne of Green Gables, I've never paid much attention to Montgomery's other writing - but I recently read about the awesomeness of Emily and really want to get my hands on it.

8. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. This is another series that sooo many people have told me I must read. So I must!

9. Ultraviolet by R. J. Anderson. All of my Goodreads friends seem to adore these books and I'm definitely curious to see what all the love is about.

10. Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness. The concept of everyone being able to read each other's thoughts is interesting and unique - and everyone seems to love this series too!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

  3. I sadly am not one to adore The Chaos Walking trilogy. I think you should get onto Delirium stat ;) Love them. ASoIaF too.

  5. I also like Game of Thrones but I've never finished the first book in the series. I like TV show more. Also Delirium is an interesting read. Great list and thanks for stopping by!:)

  7. The Georgia Nicolson books are totally wacky, but they'll always be among my top favorites. I feel like I grew up with Georgia, and the books never failed at making me laugh out loud.

I also have A Song of Ice and Fire on my list, but like you, I feel like I don't have enough time for it. I started A Game of Thrones last fall, but it was so dense, and the book so long, that I put it down and never came back to it. The series is on my list of 2013 bookish goals, so I'm hoping someday soon I'll just suck it up and read them already.

    1. With blogging especially I feel pressure to read as many books as possible to have stuff to write about, and keep up with my goals - so unfortunately longer books get neglected!

  8. Sherlock Holmes is a brilliant place to start... I have also been told to read the Georgia Nicholson books.

  10. Emily of New Moon is great. I'm kicking myself for not reading Game of Thrones yet. I refuse to watch the TV show until I read the book since it's supposed to be so similar. But I really want to read the book.

    1. Yes I've heard they're quite similar. That's probably another reason I haven't felt that compelled to read it yet.

  13. I'm all about Game of Thrones and I guess the sole reason I haven't already picked up the books is because their sheer length is kind of intimidating. One day though! One day!

OOOOOH! Sherlock Holmes! YES! I've read some snippets of his stuff but its been fairly sporadic. My dad actually bought me a really beautiful hard-bound version of The Complete Tales so I really need to carve out some quality time for Mr. Holmes and Watson. Great choices, Belle!

  16. Omg, omg, omg, read 7, 8, and 9!! What are you even doing online when you could/should be reading those.

I'm curious what you'd think of Delirium, too--it divides people so decidedly. :)

  17. Ok, of the series I'm going to double the recommendations for the series I've read:

A Song of Ice and Fire - Long, yes, but super awesome. Although you could wait it out for the release of the next book (next year) and be able to watch the show without knowing what's coming.

Chrestomanci - Read all the Diana Wynne Jones books! But this series is amazing, and much shorter than GRRM's!

His Dark Materials - One of the most intelligent and fascinating YA series you'll ever read.

    2. Yeah it's killing me to be honest! And I'm terrified it'll be like the last book which was delayed for years. The worst!

  19. I haven't read any of these yet either, but I really should! I own the first four George R.R. Martin books but they intimidate me haha. Some of these are new to me, but sound really good.

I loved Delirium but man did Pandemonium really piss me off. I hope Requiem makes it better!

  24. I've read the first few chapters of Delirium, then got bored, but I really hope you enjoy it much much more than I did :)

  25. I've read the first two books in A Song of Fire and Ice, and despite the fact that they are HUGE, I read them surprisingly fast. Not sure if that helps, but they're not as unwieldy as they look. I really need to pick up the third and get back into the series, I don't want to forget too much detail from the first two! Fortunately, the TV series has stuck fairly close to the books so far..

    1. That's what I've heard! Maybe I should just get stuck in. I just look at the first one and think, I could read four books instead of this one!

  26. Great choices! I want to read the Game of Thrones novels too at some point :) Also Diana Wynne Jones - she's like a fantasy classic, but I've never read any of her books!
I loved His Dark Materials, and I was totally surprised by how much I enjoyed Ultraviolet! Can't wait for the next book ^^
